Debut

Starting a new blog is a daunting venture. There are countless blogs out there for every topic and audience. I've been following a few of them; mostly related to fashion and style, both of which I'm passionate about. But passion sometimes isn't enough when you're a busy working mom. It takes effort, discipline and a desire not to cross the slippery slope. The fashion blogs I've read lately are all by young ladies in their twenties; all very knowledgeable about trends and how to dress effortlessly while constantly on the hunt for value. One particular blog that I am obsessed with is extrapetite.com. Jean, the petite Asian girl, is quite impressive with her knowledge of how proper fit and stylish pairings can elevate someone's outfit. I discovered her on YouTube when she did a critique of one of J Crew's coats (love love J Crew); she was really thorough and informative. I almost bought the coat myself were it not for the fact that the sale was over. So, what does all this have to do with me putting my hat in the blog ring? Well, as great as the blogs are that I've been following, I'm much older than their authors and have a completely different lifestyle. I'm a mom of two girls, 10 and under, I work full time and have been married for over a decade. My style has changed over the years and although I admire the younger generation's passion and desire to share their know-how, I feel there's not much out there for us working moms who don't want to give up on style even with our evolved mom bodies. You know what I mean: tummy's not so flat anymore, legs and ankles are slowly conspiring to become one, not so elongated neck, and let's not even talk about our posterior or skin issues due to whatever. So I started this blog for all you women out there who don't have the perfect body, could be a mom (or not), could be in her 40's (or not), who don't want to give up on style and those who promise not to walk out of the house in sweats (unless going for a run or work out) as if to raise the white flag. I'm not saying we have to be dressed to the nines every day but we have to maintain our identity and confidence amidst all of life's routines and craziness. It's a slippery slope....so Style It, Don't Sweat It! More to come.
